Welcome to the homepage of Post 24's  Sons of the American Legion.

As Commander, I invite you to join our vibrant organization in support of The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary.  We host a variety of annual events and many are held within the Post's historic clubroom at 400 Cameron Street and feature a community service table each Saturday morning at the historic Alexandria Farmer's Market at 301 King Street from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.

As you may know, the Sons of The American Legion was created in 1932 as an organization within The American Legion.  The S.A.L. is made up of men and boys of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the United States military and became eligible for membership in The American Legion.

The Sons are a part of The Legion Family.  All three organizations place high importance on preserving our American traditions and values, Americanism at its best and improving the quality of life for our nation's children, caring for veterans and their families, and perhaps most importantly, teaching the fundamentals of good citizenship.

For more information on joining and learning about the Sons of the American Legion, please contact me at JayPalermino@aol.com or contact me at 571-259-1385.  We have several voluntary positions available and welcome you and yours to participate and celebrate our tradition of service to the community.

Preamble to the S.A.L. National Constitution

Proud possessors of a priceless heritage, we male descendants of veterans of the Great Wars, associate ourselves together as "Sons of The American Legion" for the following purposes:  To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to maintain law and order; to foster and perpetuate a true spirit of Americanism; to preserve the memories of our former members and the associations of our members and our forefathers in the Great Wars; to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation; to combat the autocracy of both the classes and masses; to make right the master of might; to promote peace and good will on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and sanctify our friendship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness; to adopt in letter and spirit all of the great principles for which The American Legion stands; and to assist in carrying on for God and Country.
